Idrostudi develops advanced solutions for water distribution systems (WDS) and sewerage networks, applying academic and field-tested knowledge to improve system performance and management, in Italy and worlwide. Through numerical modelling, design and optimisation, the company supports innovative engineering practices that enhance the efficiency, reliability and resilience of water-supply and wastewater infrastructures.
Greater Accra faces chronic urban flooding, worsened by climate change, rapid development and the concentration of people and assets in flood-prone areas.
Climate-resilient drainage is essential to reduce flood risk and protect communities.
With IDA - WB Funds support, the Government of Ghana is improving critical drains and natural drainage channels under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development Project. The assignment covers detailed engineering designs, construction drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, cost estimates and tender documents for targeted civil works under Component 1: Climate Resilient Drainage and Flood Mitigation Measures.

The project is inserted in a more general client strategy: improving Chişinău’s citizens quality of living, becoming European Youth Capital in 2025 and regenerating the River Bîc to become an attractive asset for the city and the region.
Idrostudi Team focused on:
- Conducted topographic surveys, geomorphological studies, and periscope inspections of drainage systems.
- Assessed existing flood risks, drainage infrastructure, and river conditions.
- Developed an integrated catchment model to analyse water flow and flood risk.
- Conducted flood risk assessments to support decision-making.
- Option assessment to mitigate the risk of flooding (short-medium-long term Master Planning)
- Designed river reprofiling interventions to enhance hydraulic efficiency.
- Developed sustainable drainage solutions such as rain gardens and permeable surfaces.
- Provided technical specifications for flood control infrastructure.
- Collaborated with local authorities and the public to ensure community input in design decisions.
- Conducted training sessions on sustainable flood management practices.
- Assessed environmental risks and proposed mitigation measures.
- Ensured compliance with EBRD and EU environmental and social standards.
- Provided engineering support during the construction phase.
- Assisted in reviewing technical queries and approving necessary design changes.
